Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU)

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU) is a state government run affiliating university in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. It is situated at Chak Ganjaria City, Lucknow and gives affiliation to all government and private medical, dental, paramedical and nursing colleges in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The university construction started in 2019. The foundation was laid by the then Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 25 December 2019. The university was expected to open by mid-2020 in its initial phase which was halted for a year due the COVID-19 Pandemic in early 2020. It became fully functional in the academic year of 2021–22 from a transit campus at Vibhuti Khand, Lucknow.

Programmes Offered

Eligibility Criteria

In order to get admission to ABVMU MBBS and BDS programme, a candidate must have received at least 45% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from any accredited Indian board for general and OBC applicants, and 40% for SC/ST applicants, in the 10+2 exam. Qualification in NEET UG is mandatory. For post graduate programmes you need a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject. ABVMU accepts the merit in the following qualifying exams
  • NEET UG: MBBS, BDS
  • NEET MDS: MDS
  • ABVMU CNET: B.Sc Nursing, P.B.B.Sc Nursing and M.Sc Nursing
  • ABVMU CPET: B.Sc, BPT, BOT, M.Sc, MPT and MOT

ABVMU Admission

ABVMU Merit in the NEET UG and NEET MDS, respectively, determines admission to MBBS, BDS, and MDS programmes. For admission to several UG and PG courses in the fields of nursing and paramedical courses, the university administers the Common Nursing Entrance Test (CNET) and Common Paramedical Entrance Test (CPET). Those wishing to enrol in ABVMU's nursing and paramedical programs must first take their respective entrance exams, after which the university will offer counselling. About ABVMU Entrance Exam

CNET and CPET conducted by ABVMU consist of 200 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) for a total of 200 marks. For every right choice, candidates are rewarded with 1 Mark and there are no negative markings for incorrect responses.

Academic Session

The session usually begins in August.

Examinations

The grading scheme used at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University assigns a grade point based on the proportion of marks that a student receives. The end-of-semester exams and internal assessments/practicals make up the evaluation process. To pass their semesters, students must receive at least 50% of their marks. Typically, the exam is given in October and February.
