Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU)

Established on October 2, 1987, as an affiliated university under the U.P. State University Act 1973, Purvanchal University, Jaunpur, was renamed Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (in commemoration of the late Shri Veer Bahadur Singh, former Chief Minister of the state).

The institution has become one of the top universities in the nation due to a number of unique features, including consistent qualitative and quantitative growth, excellence in academic and administrative operations, and transparent and effective academic administration. The university began with 68 associated colleges and has since expanded its scope of operations to include 552 affiliated graduate and post-graduate colleges and almost 80,000 students spread across three districts in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.

Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University is recognised by the UGC and has a 'A+' NAAC certification with a CGPA of 3.28. In accordance with the U.P. State University Act 1973, it was founded in October 1987.
